Background and The Proposal

While Jamie was earing her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duquesne University, she enjoyed the company of a new group of friends. Megan Szymanski, Andrea Prashan, Kayla Tweedle, Theresa Feeney, and Jamie grew closer over the years while at the same time Matt began to acquaint himself with a group of engineers from work at Westinghouse Nuclear.

Eventually one of Matt's friends, Scott Szymanski, began dating one of Jamie's friends, Megan. As you may have gathered by the common name, Scott and Megan are now married. Years before, however, this group of engineers and this group of physical therapy students began spending more and more time together.

It was 2008 and Jamie was graduating from Physical Therapy school at Duquesne University when Scott and the engineers decided to host a graduation party for Jamie and her friends at his house. This is the party where Matt and Jamie got to know each other, and shortly thereafter they set up our first date.

Unfortunately Matt had to wait a month for the date while Jamie studied for, and passed her board examination. It was worth the wait. They bonded over world travel, the arts and culture, and big ideas for improving the city. Within six months Matt and Jamie were on their way to a Rome for a holiday. This would prove to be just the beginning of an extensive collection of passport stamps. To date, the couple has traveled to Rome, Florence, Rivera Maya, Florida, Boston, D.C., London, Paris, Edinburgh, Dublin, Belfast, Prague, Munich, Cozumel, Frankfort, Furth, Austria, and Chicago of course.

December 21, 2014 they became engaged. Matt purchased tickets for the last performance of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Pops performance before the holiday break. The symphony being one of Jamie's favorite nights out. Matt and Jamie had lovely balcony seats at Heinz Hall, and the performance was spectacular.

At the end of the performance, rather than rushing out of the theater, Matt suggested they sit in their seats as their dinner reservation was not for a little while. They talked for a few minutes, until Matt started speaking exclusively of the wonderful traits of his future wife. With her hands in his he popped the question and her answer was "YES, of course!!"

When Matt and Jamie are not traveling, they enjoy taking in the many cultural resources of the city, riding their bicycles, and cooking.

They have traveled the world and now make their way on their next great adventure...MARRIED LIFE!
